The Timeline

13.8B BCE

"Time" is not yet a concept. This is the beginning of time. During this time (how contradicting!), Joven is in another advanced parallel universe sipping hot green tea.

2005

It started in 2005 when he first discovered the web using the ancient Microsoft Internet Explorer, searched on Yahoo! and watched videos on YouTube (no vloggers yet!) .

2006

A year later, he won the competition for magazine page designing using Adobe PageMaker (now Adobe InDesign) in Tarlac and qualified for the national ICT Wizard Competition held in Manila.

2008

Then he got hooked on photo-editing and video-editing softwares like Ulead's (now under Corel) and enjoyed making GIFs, the lasso tool and magic eraser.

2009

He was introduced to HTML, CSS and JavaScript--prior to the HTML5-CSS3 era. Java language was also taught in school. We created the undying calculator program and "Hello World".

2011-2012

He started Travex Travels, his travel blog, using the platform Google Blogger and domain by GoDaddy. He enjoyed alot both producing content and customizing the layout using the HTML template (and yes, back then, some web developers still use the <body bg-color>...). The blog will be 12+ years old in 2024.

2013

He used AutoCAD as an intern and utilized MS Excel, PlanSwift, MS Project and Sketchup in his succeeding jobs.

2016

He was offered jobs in Fiji and Palau and enjoyed the island life in both countries for more than 2 years. In 2017, he got the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM®) certification from the Project Management Institute® (PMI®). Entrepeneur by ❤ Heart

At a very young age of 7, he actually earned already his first few coins by selling recycled envelopes to his classmates in the grade school. In high school, he was successfully able to lead and publish a magazine-book for his class section. In college, he did online selling on eBay and faithfully earned stars. From his savings, he bought his own camera and phone and started travel blogging. Travel blogging opened oportunities for him to meet seasoned bloggers and entrepreneurs, and learned from them--aside from extra bucks earned from AdSense.

Projects to Profits

When Joven started doing jobs and freelance works in the early 2010’s, all he thought that matters was technical knowledge. He once believed that knowing all the technical stuff—from the software that he used to do repetitive deliverables to the mental computation of some formulas—will always lead to project success.

But it wasn’t always the case. It’s not even 1 percent.

What makes a product or project successful?

Technical knowledge is a big part of project success, but without people management, there’s a big chance of failure. Project success is directly proportional with the success rate of you managing your stakeholders, both internal and external. Project management is 80% communication. That is what Joven realized when he was certified as PMP and took on a bigger challenging role of managing building projects in Palau. He applied the principles he learned in project management and in return, the projects he lead were successful, giving the company an approximately 30% profit.

Project development cycle, stakeholder engagement, risk management, product marketing and communication styles—they all add up to success. Every project and every product is different. There is no single formula but we can create a concoction that will make the project—your project—successful.
